Stranger things have happened, but this story out of Idaho caught our eye today.
Maybe because the animal featured is the beaver beaver, so typically associated with Canada. Or maybe because parachuting any kind of animal to new locales as a form of conservation seems, well, bizarre.
The old footage was recently found by the Idaho Department of Fish and Game, digitized, and uploaded to the agency’s Youtube page. In a statement released on their website, they explain why the film was made all those years ago.
“The 1950s film “Fur the Future” produced by the department highlighted Fish and Game’s efforts to transplant muskrats, marten and beavers, which included parachuting beavers into the back-country.”
Other than that, the video speaks for itself.
