Liberal Carla Qualtrough has upset the Conservatives to take the riding of Delta. She has defeated Kerry-Lynne Findlay, the Minister of National Revenue who was first elected in Delta-East Richmond in 2011. Qulatrough also fought off challenges from Jeremy Leveque of the NDP, and Anthony Devellano from the Green Party.
As a paralympian, winner Carla Qualtrough from the Liberals has worked and volunteered extensively in sport. She advises the Minister of Social Development on issues related to persons with a disability, and chairs the Minister’s Council on Employment and Inclusion for Persons with Disabilities. Qualtrough works as a Delta-based lawyer with a strong background in human rights and inclusion.
Issues in Delta include a proposed port expansion at Roberts Bank, the elimination of home delivery by Canada Post, and the renovation of the Massey Tunnel.
In advanced polls, over 11-thousand of the 500-thousand British Columbians who voted resided in Delta.
