The road to Pacific Northwest LNG may just have gotten a little bit rockier.
A sub-group of the Gitxsan nation says it’s going to court to block the Prince Rupert Gas Transmission pipeline that would feed the project.
Richard Wright of the Luutkudziiwus House Group says the province has failed to consult them over the 34 kilometre stretch of pipe that will cross their territory.
“We have no basis to allow it to go through. We don’t have any technical information, we don’t have technical support, we are being pushed aside. So it’s very easy for us to turn and say ‘absolutely not.'”

The Province has responded to the Luutkudziiwus claims. In an emailed statement, it says:
“The Province has made significant efforts to consult with First Nations on the project and has ensured, to the fullest extent possible, that potential impacts to aboriginal interests have been avoided, mitigated, or otherwise accommodated.”
