The Squamish Nation Council says it’s given conditional approval for the Woodfibre LNG processing facility proposed for Howe Sound.
The company previously agreed to meet some of the Nation’s list of 25 conditions.
Some of the conditions Woodfibre LNG will have to work on include using a “less destructive cooling system.”
The Council fears the proposed cooling system, which it says is banned in other parts of the world, will have negative effects on marine life.
There are also concerns over increased fracking, water contamination and risks because of tanker traffic along the coast.
