A man arrested after a suspicious house fire over the weekend in Surrey now faces charges.
54-year-old Timothy Berg appears in court Tuesday, charged with arson and uttering threats.
“He wasn’t a resident in the house, but the people inside were known to him, and for that reason we believe this is obviously a targeted incident.”
Corporal Scotty Schumann says three people were inside the house when the fire started.
“They did spot the fire, and were able to get out thankfully without any injury. After speaking with those people, police were able to locate a suspect a short distance away, and he has since been arrested for arson and uttering threats.”
Schumann says it’s believed Berg was in contact with the people inside the house on 142nd near Grosvenor before the flames broke out.
