Voters ready to make their mark can get a head start today, with polls open for early voting all weekend.
Dorothy Sitek of Elections Canada says voting places will be open from noon until eight p-m Monday.
“It’s very important that you report to the poll that’s associated with your address, so check your personalized voter information card, or if for instance you don’t have a voter information card, the information is accessible on the website, elections.ca.”
Sitek says Elections Canada has added an extra, fourth day to early voting this year in a bid to increase turnout.
New voter ID rules this election
Sitek is reminding people this year, new rules mean they need to bring ID.
She says the easiest way is to bring a piece government issued photo ID with their name and addres.
“That’s typically a driver’s license or provincial ID card. And if you have that kind of ID, you just need one piece. But there are lots of other options.”
Voters without government issued picture ID can bring two documents, one with a name and one with an address.
