Forecasters are calling for plenty of wind and rain this Thanksgiving long weekend.
Many people were not ready when a massive storm in August cut power to 700,000 BC Hydro customers around the province — some customers without electricity for days.
Hydro spokesperson Mora Scott explains how to be prepared.
“If there are outages and customers do come across a downed line, we really encourage them to stay at least meters back and call 911. Customers should have an emergency kit with a flashlight, batteries, first aid kit, water and food, and they should also know how to get a hold of us if the power goes out.”
The hardest hit areas will be Vancouver Island, and the north and central coast.
Environment Canada has so far not issued any alerts, but up to 25 millimetres of rain is expected on Saturday.
