A new poll conducted by Insights West suggests British Columbians and Albertans are both equally averse to trophy hunting.
The poll sampled more than 1,000 British Columbians, and close to 600 Albertans.
Majority opposed to hunting for sport
- 91% of people polled in in B.C. opposed
- 84% of Albertans opposed

Large numbers in the western provinces are supportive of eating animals, and hunting animals for meat.

- 81% in Alberta support hunting animals for meat
“Few residents are actually in favour of trophy hunting, even in the rural areas,” concludes Mario Canseco at Insights West.
Killing for fur not supported
Among the other findings, killing animals for fur was resoundingly unpopular in B.C., with 81% opposed to the practice. Alberta is not far behind, with 75% are opposed to killing for fur.
