Beginning Monday October 5th, all bus rides within Metro Vancouver will only require a one-zone fare. That can mean a big savings for commuters, but only if you ride the bus. Jump on the Skytrain, Seabus, or West Coast Express and multi-zone fares still apply.
So if you start your trip on a bus, but plan to get on a Skytrain and travel across multiple zones, you want to make sure you pay for those extra zones, or you may have to buy another ticket when you get to the Skytrain.
One-Zone Fare Facts:
- Zone map stays the same.
- Evenings/weekends/Holidays: All modes of travel after 6:30 p.m.weekdays and on weekends/holidays remain a one-zone fare.
- The 90-minute transfer window still applies.
- Monthly Pass: scratch the zone or zones in which you most frequently travel on Skytrain or Seabus. If you don’t regularly travel on those mode,s buy a 1-zone Monthly Farecard and scratch any zone.
- Tap-on Only Compass Cards: Starting October 5, customers travelling with Compass Cards or Compass Tickets will only have to tap in on the bus, and will no longer need to tap out when exiting.
Note: You still have to tap out at SkyTrain, SeaBus and West Coast Express Stations to be sure you’re charged the correct fare.
