It was a first for Vancouver’s mayor on Thursday: hosting a federal election forum.
Gregor Robertson says all big city mayors are hosting these discussions in the final weeks of the campaign to hear what the parties are pledging to cities.
He says cities have been making the case for years when it comes to infrastructure, transit and housing.
And he says it’s important to keep the issues on the front-burner.
“Make sure that we don’t ease the pressure, make sure that the parties feel the heat from all the cities to up their game.”
On another note, Robertson says he likes the proposed design of the new Vancouver Art Gallery at Cambie and Georgia streets.
But he says the key question will be if the federal and provincial governments put more cash on the table.
