As questions continue over the death of a young man in care, Premier Christy Clark is attempting to take the politics out of the issue.
The Fraser Valley Aboriginal Children and Family Services Society was responsible for Alex Gervais when he fell from an Abbotsford hotel window two weeks ago to his death.
Clark and Opposition Leader John Horgan got into a heated exchange yesterday in Victoria on the issue.
Today, the premier tells reporters the debate over Alex’s death has become a “she-said-he-said” affair.
“This issue isn’t about me, and it’s not about the leader of the opposition.”
“It’s about the young man who died, and we should remember this debate shouldn’t be a political one — it should be about making sure we’re looking after all those kids that are in government care.”
Clark says the government has been trying to hire more social workers.
