“Three years ago, Volkswagen sold me a lie,” begins Gary Mason’s column in the Globe and Mail today on the massive diesel scandal that has rocked Volkswagen over the past week.
He spoke with Jon McComb earlier today about the scandal and the ‘amazing’ reaction to his column, especially from VW owners.
“They are now stuck with this car, and they don’t want it. And there is no indication yet about what VW is going to do. Obviosly there’s going to be a big recall, and…software changed in cars. But you know, people are so angry about this, they don’t want to have any association with the car at all…They want VW to buy their car back…and I don’t really see that happening.”
Mason told Jon that while he’s in a better position than others because he leased his VW, he’s still angry about what has been happening in the auto industry.
” The corporate and industrial fraud that has taken place here is enough in itself for us to be furious as a public.”
