Three men have been charged in what Vancouver police are calling a “distraction-style” theft that targeted an elderly woman.
Police say an 86-year-old woman went to a bank branch in South Granville last Friday.
When she left and walked to her car, a man approached her and pointed out there was some cash lying on the ground.
He kept the woman distracted, while a second man snatched the woman’s purse off the seat of her car.
The two men then escaped into a waiting car and sped off.
Police tracked them down and arrested them, as well as returned the woman’s purse.
Adolfo Morella, 57, Eloy Figueroa-Valdes, 60, and Hector Paredes, 67, have been charged with theft.
