A former North Vancouver Teacher and principal has been handed down a two month suspension by the Teacher Regulation Branch, for inappropriate comments made towards students at his school.
Gerard MacIntosh taught grade 8 at an independent school in the 2013-14 school year and has been punished for pulling a pocket knife on a student, saying, “here, use this to erase your life”, when an autistic student asked for an eraser.
During a grade 7 and 8 Halloween party, a a student asked McIntosh where his Halloween costume was, and MacIntosh replied he was already in costume and dressed as a pedophile.
He quit his positions at the school in December 2014 after he was placed on two paid leaves and faced disciplinary action from the school.
MacIntosh had told some parents he had been placed on leave because of some of his students, and told some students he was on leave because of the student he pulled the knife on.
He will remain suspended until November 21st.
