Now that Metro Vancouver’s water restrictions have been lowered to Stage 1, the regional district is drawing up lessons learned from the driest summer on record.
Darrell Mussatto chairs the region’s utilities committee.
He says it’s possible the water restrictions will begin earlier next year, and last longer.
“Instead of planning for the lowest rainfall year we have to plan for a no rainfall year – no rain at all.”
He adds the reservoirs handled the drought “extremely well,” going four months without any significant rainfall.
