How nice would it be to just drive up to the Sunshine Coast without having to worry about ferry traffic?
The B.C. government says it will weigh the costs and benefits of a highway or bridge link to the Sunshine Coast.
Transportation Minister Todd Stone says he’s heard from the public from Powell River and along the Sunshine Coast.
“So we have heard loud and clear from people on the Sunshine Coast that they would like their government to look into the possibility of a different connection between the Sunshine Coast and the Mainland.”
“B.C. government will be undertaking a feasibility study to look at a variety of potential connections between the Mainland and the Sunshine Coast, ranging from possibly a direct bridge connection to a new highway link around Jervis Inlet from Squamish.”
He says in the months ahead, government will consider the current 20-kilometre ferry trip, compared to a highway or a bridge connection along the coast.
