A group from the Canadian Federation of Students hope to put their stamp on the Federal election campaign by urging younger people to vote.
Spokesperson Jenelle Davis says the “This Time We Decide” campaign is a non-partisan campaign urging younger people to be proactive.
Davis says she and many others are tired of being bogged down by negativity – as people often say the younger crowd tends NOT to vote.
“What’s been shown in the States where they do a lot of youth engagement is that we CAN. There’s a vast majority of young people that could go out and vote, and actually swing a significant number of ridings across Canada. For us it’s mobilizing on those points. We can actually make a difference.”
The campaign kicks off today in at New Westminster’s Douglas College.
