Liberal leader Justin Trudeau is in Vancouver promising transit funding if elected.
Trudeau says a Liberal government will quadruple federal investment in public transit over the next decade by investing nearly $20 billion in transit infrastructure.
“Lack of federal funding will no longer be a road block to action. When it comes to transit, the need is real and the projects are ready to go.”
Trudeau also says the government will work with the province and municipalities to extend rapid transit service along Broadway to Arbutus, bring light rail transit to Surrey and increase Seabus service.
“Bring it on!”
B.C.’s Premier Christy Clark’s response to Trudeau’s funding promise.
“If the next federal government decides they want to fund specific projects in the province or put money aside for specific communities, fantastic, we are here to match it.”
