Six things to know and do before school starts on Tuesday
1.) First day of school? Not quite.
Don’t pack that lunch quite yet. Public school is only is session for about an hour before the kids are let back out for one last hurrah before they buckle down for real.
2.) School Supply Shopping
Not so fast. Many Metro Vancouver school districts provide school supplies for a fee. Find out if yours is one of them before you spend money on what you don’t need.
Will be hectic on Tuesday morning, and downright chaotic if its raining. Keep your kids safe by ensuring they have reflective clothing on, and if possible, have them walk to school with a buddy, or a group of friends.
4.) School zones
Those 30-km zones are for parents too! And the “No Stopping” signs in front of schools are there for a reason, to keep kids safe. So don’t park in them, no matter how much of a rush you’re in.
5.) Avoid the tears
Put everyone to bed early the night before, and then wake up early enough to feed a hearty breakfast to everyone (including yourself!) before heading out the door.
6.) Have fun!
Or at least pretend to, for the sake of the children.
