Stephen Thomas Morse has been officially charged with with aggravated sexual assault, forcible confinement and disguise with intent.
The 42-year old Langley man has been charged in the brazen sexual assault and robbery of a 70-year old woman in South Surrey.
Surrey Mounties say Morse was not previously known to police.
They say they are not releasing any further information until Tuesday.
An arrest has been made nearly a month after a brazen and violent assault on an elderly woman in her own home from South Surrey.
Surrey RCMP are recommending several charges against a 42 year old Langley man; among them aggravated sexual assault, forcible confinement, break and enter, and robbery with a firearm.
On August 12, a 70 year old woman returned to her home in the afternoon after being out for the morning.
Shortly after, the suspect entered her home with a weapon and restrained her, demanding cash.
He proceeded to tie her up and both physically and sexually assault her before fleeing the scene.
Corporal Scotty Schumann with Surrey RCMP says the suspect is not known to police.
