As winds and rain slammed Metro Vancouver over the weekend, the call centre at ICBC was also slammed with claims.
Adam Grossman with the company says they brought in extra staff over the weekend and today to deal with the deluge.
“Our claim centre call volume increased by about 50 percent on Saturday – that was more than 2000 calls coming to our claims centre. And even more on Sunday: It was about a 66 percent increase on Sunday and that’s compared to the previous weekends in August.”
“Thankfully these big events like this don’t happen very often but when they do, we certainly put extra resources into dealing with it to limit possible delays for customers so we had staff working extra hours all over the weekend and we are doing that again today to make sure we can take our customer’s calls.”
Grossman says online claims were up from an average of 80 over the weekend to 500.
He says the earlier you get your claim in the earlier it will be processed.
