When disaster hits, people come together.
And with damage from the windstorm, one Metro Vancouver mayor says that’s exactly what he’s seeing.
Port Coquitlam Mayor Greg Moore says he’s been touring his community, which like others, is feeling the impact of downed trees on houses and cars, and power outages.
He says it was uplifting to see neighbourhoods pull together, and people helping other people.
“We know in emergencies like this the fire departments’ (and) police departments’ crews are out doing the best they can, but sometimes it takes neighbours to help each other out.”
Moore says he has seen residents clear trees on roads to help get traffic moving, and one man used his own pick-up to help get debris out of the way.
