The minister responsible for Translink is calling his first meeting with the transit authority’s board “positive.”
Peter Fassbender says they all support the vision laid out by the Mayors’ Council for the next ten years.
“The challenge now, will be to move forward on those things that we can, and then while we are still looking for opportunities for expansion in the future, and how that might be resourced.”
As for the governance side of things, Fassbender says it is important the board, management and the mayors’ council have a good working relationship…and work to build the public’s confidence.
The meeting was also Fassbender’s formal introduction of two recent provincial appointees to the board – former VPD Chief Jim Chu, and former Surrey City Manager Murray Dinwoodie.
