A picnic in East Vancouver to be held next Tuesday looks to be an more inclusive alternative to the very exclusive Diner en Blanc.
Ce Soir Noir will be held on the same night as Diner en Blanc, and event organizer Graeme Berglund says unlike the secret dinner, anyone can attend.
So far on their Facebook page, over 1,000 people have said they will be going.
“I think it’s really reflective more than anything of just a growing desire for people to take part in community orientated culture events in Vancouver which we are a little bit shy on, just because we still have miles to go.”
Berglund says the point of the picnic is to include everyone.
“It’s really based on inclusivitity. So anyone from any financial background or interest can come out.”
Berglund says they do have plans in place for a clean up crew after the picnic happens.
They are also partnering with Backpack Buddies, a non-profit organization that helps children who don’t have enough to eat during the school year.
