The 12-year-old girl from Calgary who drowned in Osoyoos Lake on Monday has been identified by the B.C. Coroner’s Service.
She was Naziha Mohammed.
The girl had been wading with a friend when some waves pushed her into deeper water.
Her friend tried holding onto her, but eventually her grip loosened, and the girl slipped away.
A large search was launched, but the girl wasn’t found until about a half hour later in two metres of water.
Officials said at the time she did not know how to swim.
