It’s yet another example of the power in crowdfunding.
“She’s completely speechless. They have no idea how to show their gratitude to everyone.”
A GoFundMe page dedicated to a four-year-old Terrace girl diagnosed with a form of cancer known for afflicting children has raised over $40-thousand dollars in only two days.
Britta Nordean is family friends with Brian and Nicole Demedeiros, whose daughter Annabelle was stricken with stage 4 neuroblastoma only just over a week ago.
“I didn’t know if I should set the goal at $5-thousand or push for $10-thousand. I decided to go for $10,000 and that goal was hit after three hours of creating the page.”
She says the Demedeiros family are a kind and generous group who would have done the same for anybody.
“All the people that are reaching out, it says something to the character of this family. They’re just amazing people and I know that if it was my daughter in that situation or anybody else’s, that they would be doing everything that they could to support them.”
“She’s handling it as well as any parent who gets tragic news about their child. She told me she’s been trying so hard not to cry in front of Annabelle but for the last day it’s just been happy tears because she’s just amazed at what the community has done for her.”
Annabelle is currently at Vancouver Children’s Hospital.
“She just started deteriorating really quick. And it was about five days of testing and scans and the doctors confirmed that she had Stage 4 neuroblastoma.”
