A Surrey woman’s been charged after a dog was beaten and stabbed earlier this year.
24-year-old Lindsey Susan Hirtreiter is charged with two counts of animal cruelty.
Eileen Drever with the SPCA says a three-year-old Labrador called Ryder was attacked after wandering off his property in the Chimney Heights neighborhood of Surrey.
“I’m shocked the dog made a recovery quite frankly after everything it went through and what’s really disturbing is animals are so vulnerable and they rely on us and yet this dog after everything it went through was friendly.”
The maximum fine if convicted is 75-thousand-dollars, up to two years in jail and a lifetime ban on owning animals.
