The talk of recession has been a hot topic lately.
But one business expert expects an upward turn in the Canadian economy in the near future.
Although a Mainstreet poll this week reveals almost two-thirds of Canadians believe the country is already in one.
CKNW Business analyst Robert Levy says the talk of recession is overblown.
“We still created jobs, about twelve and a half thousand jobs a month in Canada. Although it’s not great, it’s actually mediocre in terms of growth. We’re still creating jobs which is a key sort of distinction of a recession – typically you lose jobs. “
Levy says he expects the Canadian economy to bounce back in the second half of this year.
Levy was speaking to Shane Foxman on the Sean Leslie Show Saturday afternoon.
