Surrey RCMP have now released additional details of the man whom they believe to be the suspect.
The pictures show a suspect believed to be a Caucasian male, 20 to 30 years old, 5’10” to 6’0″ tall, with a medium build, clean shaven, with no visible marks, scars, or tattoos.
Additionally, at the time he had shoulder length, light coloured hair, which Mounties caution may be fake.
Cameras at the nearby Brookswood RBC bank on 40th Avenue in Langley showed the suspect using an ATM at 1:57pm on the day of the violent sexual assault, only minutes after Surrey RCMP investigated the break and enter.
People living in the neighbourhood are scared and frustrated.
“I don’t care what neighbourhood that happens in. That’s as bad as you can get. That is disgusting.”
Nowell Hinch says he doesn’t know his neighbour that well.
She’s the 69-year-old victim of a brutally violent home invasion Tuesday which ended with her in hospital after being physically and sexually assaulted.
Hinch says the neighbourhood – comprised mainly of seniors – is running out of options to keep safe.
“Community’s doing everything it can. The block watch, all of this stuff. Everybody’s looking out for everybody. You can’t do any more. You know, these people have been here since 1984, but these people were easy pickings.”
He adds the responsibility of keeping people safe should fall squarely on Surrey RCMP.
Another woman living nearby says the attack happened too close to home, and family.
“Actually we had our grandkids; we were playing with our grandkids about the same time that she was being assaulted.”
