As parents fight for their baby’s life at B.C. Children’s Hospital, there’s a call for an independent inquiry into the case.
The four-month-old baby known as Mary Jane was born prematurely, has been in hospital since birth, and suffers from multiple issues.
Her parents say the Ministry of Children and Family Development has temporary custody of the baby and wants to take her off life support, without their permission.
Now Faith Bodnar with the group “Inclusion BC” is calling for an independent inquiry.
“Her family feels that she deserves the opportunity to have medical intervention that’s life saving and that that should be continuing.”
Despite her health issues, the baby’s parents say she opens her eyes and responds to touch.
