With home ownership in Vancouver more difficult to obtain than ever before, Conservative leader Stephen Harper has announced more help for first time home owners.
Speaking at his second stop in B.C. since calling the election, Harper promised to raise the limit on how much first-time home buyers can withdraw from their RRSPs tax-free.
“A re-elected Conservative government will again by a substantial amount raise the allowable withdrawal under the home buyers’ plan from $25,000 to $35,000.”
Harper says this would be the first time the limit on the home buyers’ plan has been raised since 2009.
He also promised to collect more data on foreign home ownership.
