If you’ve been down near South Granville lately, you might notice something different.
A familiar blue sign is no longer there, and it’s not sitting well with some people.
It used to be blue but now it’s red. The Kaplan sign that hung from a heritage building on the corner of Granville and Broadway has been replaced.
The new sign was put up at a school last month. Stewart Burgess from the Vancouver Heritage Society is calling it an eyesore.
“It’s been an iconic part of that intersection for as long as I’ve been in Vancouver and much longer. It’s also part of a long history of neon Vancouver.
Burgees says the city did not issue a permit for the sign to be changed.
The school declined to comment.
