The cooler weather over the weekend has helped contain a number of larger fires across B.C., with only three new fires reported Sunday.
But Chief Fire Information Officer Kevin Skrepnek says the hotter weather forecasted for some parts of the province this week may be a concern, especially in southern B.C.
“Highs in some areas reaching the mid-30s; I know forecasted temperatures for some parts of the southern interior creeping into the 37, 38 range”
Skrepnek expects an increase in fire activity over the next few days.
“We do have to anticipate an increase in fire activity over the next few days given the fact that we going to be returning to warm and dry conditions”
There are currently 1400 personnel working the front lines.
