It may surprise you to know the City of White Rock is not on the same watering restrictions as the rest of Metro Vancouver.
White Rock’s water is controlled by a private corporation and is taken from wells.
Mayor Wayne Baldwin says the city’s had a privately-owned water utility since about 1913.
It means there’s plenty of water to go around.
“We have quite a large aquifer and we don’t draw down enough to have any issues with it. Mostly the concern at this point in time is that we have enough for fire supply should that occasion arise but other than that it’s not an issue.”
Right now White Rock residents can water three days a week at morning and night.
