A heart-wrenching obituary has been published for the little girl who drowned last month in the waters off Gambier Island.
Seven-year-old Maddy Liebenberg had been out with her father, William Liebenberg, taking their boat from the Lions Bay marina to go for a swim near their cabin on Gambier.
Investigators are unclear what happened, but Maddy was found dead, while her dad is presumed to have drowned as well.
“Our hearts are forever broken by the tragic loss of Maddy Liebenberg — and her passing is a reminder life is precious and love is forever,” the obituary reads in the Vancouver Sun.
It says the girl lived life fiercely, seen in the way she loved and danced.
It lists some of her favourite things, like the monkey bars, eating candy and loving all animals.
Her memorial is planned for Saturday in Vancouver.
