The man who died in a fiery crash between a tour bus and a vehicle on the Trans Canada highway last week was just nineteen years old.
The BC Coroners Service has identified the victim as Sascha Dieter Hedrich of Pritchard.
He was travelling westbound on highway one in the Hoffman’s Bluff area, when witnesses say he crossed the center line for an unknown reason, and collided head-on with an eastbound tour bus.
He died at the scene.
57 tourists from Korea were taken to hospital.
20 of the passengers suffered non-life-threatening injuries.
The area has been the scene of numerous fatal accidents over the years.
Calls for improvements prompted both the provincial and federal governments to kick in money for a four-lane highway widening project.
