The City of Vancouver’s call centre has been flooded with inquiries about water restrictions.
“We’ve seen a very big increase, almost a 1,000-per-cent increase.”
Centre spokesperson Darcy Wilson says most people want more information on how often they can water their lawns (they can’t), conserve water and report rule-breakers.
“There is a certain level of fairness that people are looking for, and I think that is why we have seen the violations go up so much.”
The city says its handed out 62 tickets and 4,300 warnings to those violating Stage 3 water restrictions so far.
Among the rules are no lawn watering, no washing cars outdoors, and no watering plants and flowers unless you’re using a spring-loaded nozzle.
