In North Vancouver…
“We tried to tell them that’s not a wise decision, but they weren’t listening.”
People looking for relief from the heat on the North Shore turned to cliff jumping over the long weekend, which has the District of North Vancouver Fire Department ringing alarm bells.
Assistant Fire Chief Mike Cairns says crews were called to Twin Falls bridge in Lynn Canyon not once, not twice, but five times for rescues.
“They were jumping off right after we re-opened the bridge. We hadn’t even handed off the patient to BC Ambulance yet and they were already climbing up and jumping off both sides.”
Cairns adds warning signs are in the area, which has seen a number of people die from cliff jumping.
