The wildfire burning near Harrison Hot Springs has gotten a lot bigger overnight.
The blaze has now reached 600 hectares — up from just 45 on Monday.
“There is heavy smoke in the area again this morning, so it’s making it difficult to peer down through the clouds, but that’s our best guess.”
Fire information officer Donna MacPherson says it shows how hard the winds are blowing, despite the air tankers dropping water on the flames.
She says campers in the area aren’t threatened, but the fire has crossed one of the roads that campers use to get in and out.
The fire was discovered on Sunday and was determined to have been caused by people.

Spectacular sunset over Harrison Lake tonight for the wrong reason. Hoping morning brings relief from the wind. pic.twitter.com/X4C0UdCxT6— Dave Pinton (@davepinton) August 4, 2015
