Six businesses have been destroyed after a major fire this morning in Port Coquitlam.
Moore says the blaze shut down Shaughnessy Street, between Elgin and McAllister.
“It started in the barber shop, which was in the middle of the building. It started somewhere in there, we don’t know exactly where at this point.”
Moore says nearby buildings, including City Hall, had to be evacuated.
No details yet on what sparked the fire.
Those roads will be closed through rush hour this afternoon.
Earlier in the morning, AM 730 Traffic Reporter Elaine Schollen said crews were having a hard time containing it.
“This fire now causing huge problems for crews. We’ve got flames and smoke just pouring out of the roof of this retail space.”
No injuries have been reported.
