The bomb squad was called to a home in Coquitlam earlier this week.
Police say a contractor had been hired by a family to work on the late grandfather’s home on Logan Street.
And he got quite a shock when he looked in a closet: what appeared to be a WWII-era bomb.
Turns out, grandpa was a retired member of the Royal Canadian Air Force.
The contractor called 911, and the Navy’s bomb disposal team based out of Esquimalt was called in.
They secured and seized the ordnance without incident.
