A report by Vancity says high costs and bureaucracy threaten local food trucks but one vendor doesn’t entirely agree.
The report based on findings in Vancouver and Victoria has found while consumers enjoy the growing food truck industry, many food trucks face challenges with regulations, licensing and cost structure.
Sarb Mund, owner of “SoHo Road” food truck at the corner of Granville and Georgia says in a free market there will always be ebbs and flows…
“It was my understanding when we got into the industry that the majority of your money came from events, now we’re starting to see a lot more events out there.”
Mund says as in any other industry, only the ‘strong’ survive.
