Metro Vancouver residents woke up Friday morning to rain.
But that doesn’t mean you can turn on the sprinklers or start washing your car.
The skies may have finally opened, but officials say Stage 3 water restrictions are still in place.
That means you still can’t water your lawn, wash your car outside, or refill your pool.
Darryl Mussatto, North Vancouver City Mayor and chair of the region’s utilities committee, says our reservoirs still need a lot of help..
“Our reservoirs are under a lot of stress because they’re only 69% full. We need well over 115 millimetres of rain. This is going to be three or four millimetres of rain. So it’s critically important that we don’t take this for granted and think we can go ahead and use water like we used to in the past.”
He says the current restrictions will likely stay in place until September.
