A Vancouver Police officer saved two Dachshund dogs this afternoon suffering from heat exposure left in the backseat of a vehicle.
Sergeant Randy Fincham says it happened near W 10th Ave. and Ontario Street.
“What we saw this afternoon was a pet owner leaving dogs inside of a car, leaving the car and carrying on with their day, but unfortunately the dogs were left in the car to suffer in the heat. It wasn’t until a concerned citizen notified a police officer, the officer came by, took a look at the dogs and the dogs were in obvious distress, so unfortunately with no other choice, the officer smashed the window to get some fresh air to the dogs, and provide some water for the dogs that were inside.”
The BC SPCA is investigating possible animal cruelty charges against the owner.
