An amazing story from BC’s North where people came to the rescue of an Orca trapped on some rocks above the waterline.
The group Whale Point, located at a research station on Hartley Island, posted on Facebook that it was a day of high emotions.
“She cried often, which tore at our hearts, but as the tide came up there were many cheers as this whale was finally free after 6+ hours of being stuck on this rock.”
The group says they rushed to beached whale, along with people from World Wildlife Fund, and others.
A water pump was jury-rigged on the spot, and wet blankets were used to keep the whale moist and calm.
The group says the Orca cried often, which tore at everyone’s hearts.
But after six long hours the tide came up and with cheers the whale was free
