“You know, these are tough and sometimes dangerous jobs, and these efforts really are appreciated.”
Prime Minister Stephen Harper joined Premier Christy Clark, visiting firefighters battling an out-of-control wildfire near Kelowna.
Harper says when fire season is over, we need to figure out the best way to combat this risk in the future.
“..what we can do in terms of better coordination, resources, mitigation.”
Harper says efforts have been great so far, but there is always room for improvement.
“There’s been a good cooperation among governments in this, among various agencies, and certainly the federal government always stands ready to provide additional assistance if that’s necessary.”
Harper made a statement to reporters, but did not accept any questions.
