The Martin Mars bomber has returned to Vancouver Island after helping fight a forest fire near Nelson on Saturday.
“The Martin Mars was used to help ground personnel and other aircrafts with a fire east of Boswell and north of Akokli creek. It dropped nine loads.”
Fire Information Officer Karlie Shaughnessy says the bomber dropped nine 27-thousand litres loads of water on the blaze throughout the day.
“The tanker was used to increase the humidity of ground fuels giving personnel time on the ground to establish guard.”
Shaugnessy says no other requests for the use of the bomber have been put in.
