Vancouver Police says a 26 year old man is in custody in relation to Friday night’s homicide at Andy Livingstone Park on Carrall and Expo Boulevard.
Matthew Brenner of Vancouver will remain in custody until his next court appearance.
In a statement, Sergeant Randy Fincham says Brenner faces second degree murder charges.
Fincham is also crediting Vancouver Police’s Volunteer Crime Watch group for helping with the capture of the suspect.
The man, described as ‘suspicious’ by volunteers – was apparently seen fleeing the area where the homicide had happened around the time of the incident.
The victim – whose name is not being released – was a 44 year old man who had just arrived in Vancouver.
The victim’s body was found in the park just before 10:00 Friday night.
