As music lovers make their way up the Sea-to-Sky highway for this weekend’s Pemberton Music Festival, they’re again being reminded to party safe.
Last year, five deaths were recorded at summer-time concerts across Canada.
Dr. Michelle Murti with the Fraser Health Authority says some tips have been posted online to help keep local emergency rooms empty.
“Generally-speaking, most people go to these events and have a good time and come home and that’s fine, but certainly, I think being aware about what the risks are and going there with a little bit of knowledge and preparedness can certainly make a difference in terms of that kind of outcome.”
Last year, a 21-year old man died at Pemberton and a 24-year old woman died after collapsing at another festival in Penticton.
