More talking but no specifics about what the Clark Government has planned for Translink in the wake of the failed transit plebiscite.
Transportation Minister Todd Stone met with Port Coquitlam Mayor Greg Moore on Tuesday and Surrey Mayor Linda Hepner yesterday, but Stone is still saying the key is hiring the new CEO at Translink.
“They absolutely understand the significance of the next hire, the next CEO that’s hired for Translink. If we get this right, if the region gets this right, if the Mayors get it right, this could be the single most important positive thing that could happen to Translink moving forward.”
Critics say it’s the structure of Translink the government needs to change, not the CEO.
He was asked for his reaction to Mayor Linda Hepner’s threat to pull Surrey out of Translink and go it alone on the light rail proposal.
“I’m not going to disclose any specific details. I will say though Mayor Hepner continues, rightly so, to be extremely passionate about the need for enhanced transportation in Surrey.”
